I’ve been spending this winter doing some serious navel gazing in the studio on my own..and so far it’s been one of those times that the musical process has felt totally effortless. Partly it’s having a destination to go work in and finding a smooth workflow there – but the biggest part of it is simply staying the hell out of my own way and running with whatever surprises my subconscious brings into the studio each morning. No major struggles yet, knock on wood. Anyway, it’s all patched in, all I need is a cup of coffee and a flip of the switch. Love that.
All that said, this is going toward a solo album. I’m working toward a group of 20 songs before I make any decisions. Shoot first, ask questions later. I’m nearly 1/2 way there.
